Southampton Hospital – Phillips Family Cancer Center

PROJECT DETAILS
The Phillips Family Cancer Center is the first comprehensive Cancer Center located on the East End of Long Island. The recently constructed 2-story, 12,000-square-foot facility center provides patients with a one-stop shop for cancer treatment, including planning, radiation and chemotherapy, clinical trials, education, and supportive care. Designed by Victor Famulari Architect and Blaze Makoid Architecture, the Cancer Center is designed with the traditional barn look found around Southampton.
The Center boasts a primary patient treatment room highlighted by raised cathedral ceilings and expansive windows and skylights to allow views out of both to an adjacent garden. This provides patients with a treatment room where they can feel relaxed and comfortable while undergoing treatment.
At the center of the building’s planning was the installation of a state-of-the-art linear accelerator. To accommodate the technology, the project team located the radiation treatment area on the ground floor, incorporating a 22,000-pound leaded cantilevered concrete door and prefabricated leaded concrete walls in the vault, which extends back into the hill behind the building.
The Phillips Family Cancer Center officially opened in May 2019.
